Good Morning from Kamaloops! Today you’ll get to look through the eyes of a southern girl experiencing winter wonderland for the first time. This being our first true day of adventure, we were all pretty anxious to what awaited us in Jasper. As we walked outside into Canada’s first snow of the season we became a little doubtful of the conditions. While driving, we came a cross a checkpoint where news of a landslide down the road blocked our direct path to Jasper. But what’s so great about trusting the Lord in all situations is that He can turn your detour into the most magical day. This delay led us to the most adorable Swiss Bakery in Valemount, just before the British Columbia/Alberta border. We parked, walked in and was sad to find out that they only accepted Canadian cash. As we waited around and asked a few people, a kind lady was so generous as to trade a 20 USD for a 20 CAD. Yay! We had enough for a few pastries and authentic Swiss Hot Chocolate! While warming up in the bakery, news that the road opened up got us even more excited! After a fun short photo shoot at the bakery, we piled back into the car with our hands and hearts warmed and our taste buds and tummies happy.

We didn't get too far down the road before another photo op presented itself in front of the Alberta welcome sign, Bald Eagle sightings, and a large herd of Elk grazing at the Jasper entrance. An hour later we were checked in to the Tonquinn Inn and eating the most exquisite meal in a hidden restaurant underneath the streets of Jasper at the Downstream Restaurant. To spread the icing on the cake for the most amazing day, we sprinted back to the Inn to experience the outdoor hot tub during a snow flurried night… might have gotten kicked after 15 minutes, but it was worth every second!

We began our day bright and early in Atlanta, ready to meet up with Jasmin and Molly! Although our flight was delayed, it was in our favor as we made it into Vancouver just in time for dinner. We headed downtown to a hip little spot, TUC, where we started off Canada's Thanksgiving weekend with a fabulous dinner of local elk and moose. The food was fantastic and the company even better! Vancouver is a wonderfully clean city, with great restaurants and a mountain backdrop... just the spot to begin our Canadian adventure. We hopped in the car and took off toward Kamloops, as our faithful automobile transformed into a karaoke dance vibe. We can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store! looking forward to spotting some wildlife up close and beautiful, mountainous scenery... maybe even a little snow!

Molly Here!

I woke up this morning to mountain views and freshly brewed Seattle coffee from Victrola Coffee Roasters. I understand the saying, “Sleepless in Seattle” mainly because I just want to keep exploring this vibrant city and partly because it’s a three-hour time difference from South Carolina. Day 1 of this 18-day trip was a blast, full of Seattle site-seeing and yummy cuisine! (SOI and 8 oz. Burger and Company)  Not only do I get to stand in awe of God’s marvelous creation, I am especially looking forward to enjoying the sights, sounds, and EATS on this once in a lifetime trip with Jasmin everywhere we go.

What better way to launch a blog than with a 18 day, cross-country move through Western Canada and the US!!!

Road Trip Map Accompanying me on the whole journey is the stunningly beautiful Molly. She’ll be my partner in crime, adventure buddy, foodie friend, model, photographer, driver, etc.! We’ll be adventuring through God's creation, jaw dropping national parks, fun cities, cute towns, and the open road. Not to mention the abundant blessings of companies that have sponsored the trip and have provided not only monetary funds, but also great products to take along with us!
